Sophomore Day Thriller : Hawks Soar Past Atlantic Cape, 78-75
Harrisburg, PA- Sophomore Day delivered everything it promised — emotion, intensity, and a finish that had the home crowd on its feet.
After trailing at halftime, Harrisburg Area Community College stormed back with a dominant second half to edge Atlantic Cape Community College, 78–75, in a game that perfectly honored five players who have helped shape the program: Ziveon, Jake, Ryan, Will, and Eli.
First-Half Battle
Atlantic Cape set the tone early, shooting over 50% from the field and taking a 41–34 advantage into the locker room. The Buccaneers controlled tempo and capitalized on efficient inside scoring, forcing the Hawks to regroup at halftime.
But Sophomore Day wasn't going to end quietly.
Second-Half Surge
HACC flipped the script in the final 20 minutes, pouring in 44 second-half points while tightening up defensively. The Hawks' perimeter shooting caught fire — finishing the game 14-of-22 from three-point range (63.6%) — turning a deficit into a statement win.
Sophomores Lead the Way
Ziveon Kyle
Ziveon knocked down a key three-pointer and battled defensively throughout the afternoon. His energy helped ignite HACC's momentum shift in the second half.
Eli Vega
A two-way standout, Eli finished with 10 points, 3 steals, and 1 assist. His defensive pressure created transition chances that fueled the comeback.
Ryan Floyd
Ryan was efficient and physical inside, contributing timely scoring and rebounds that stabilized the paint during crucial possessions.
Will Byrd
Will filled the stat sheet with 6 points and 2 assists, including a big three-pointer. His poise under pressure helped HACC execute late-game sets.
Jacob Franklin
While the box score may not reflect it, Jake's defensive communication and leadership were instrumental in closing out the game.
Big-Time Performances
Jaiden Wiley delivered a game-high 24 points, drilling four three-pointers and stepping up in clutch moments. Kaden Folk added 10 points and five rebounds, while John McNeil chipped in 11 to keep the offense balanced.

The atmosphere was electric as the Men's Basketball team celebrated Sophomore Day in a heartfelt pre-game ceremony, honoring the hard work, dedication, and leadership of their sophomore players. Ziveon, Jake, Ryan, Will, and Eli have poured two years of dedication, leadership, and heart into this program. Their commitment in practice, resilience through adversity, and unwavering belief in their teammates have helped define Hawk basketball.
