Women's Basketball Starts off at 1-1

Women's basketball started their season with a loss against conference opponent Luzerne County.  The team came out strong in the first quarter, lead offensively by Olivia Macedo.  Luzerne found their stride in the second quarter, outscoring the Hawks by 12 points.  The Hawks made a surge during the third quarter but, ultimately, could not keep the Trailblazers down.  Macedo lead the team with 19 points, followed by Cameron Koppenhaver with 18, and Olivia Bernardini with 15 points.  Koppenhaver pulled down 16 rebounds and 3 blocked shots.

The ladies then traveled to Sussex County.  The Hawks came away with the win, lead offensively by Sara Desso with 26 points, she went 9 for 12 from the free throw line, and sparked the team offensively.  The game went back and forth but aggressive defense by Desso in the fourth quarter sparked the Hawks to the win.  Koppenhaver added 14 points and 3 blocked shots, Macedo had 12 points and 7 rebounds, and Caroline Schmidt had 9 rebounds and 2 steals.

The ladies will return to play against conference opponent Lehigh Carbon tomorrow night and, Thursday night, they will take on Penn State York.  Both are home games starting at 6 pm.  Come out and support the Hawks!
