The HACC Golf team traveled to New Jersey for the Regional Qualifier this week. It was a very cool and very windy day for golf, but the team played under very difficult conditions. Kent Umberger shot a 72 which was five better than his nearest competitor. The entire team stayed patient and focused and didn’t panic with some early slow starts from some of the student athletes. Coach Simonic kept them going out on the course while Coach Birney marshalled on one of the most tricky and hardest holes, hole number 9. Geoffrey Warke shot an 80, Stephen Berger shot an 86, and Justin Fantom shot an 87. The team finished first out of nine teams. They will travel back to New Jersey this week to Regionals at Black Bear. They are looking forward to the competition and hoping to qualify as a team for Nationals.
