Men's Basketball Second Half Recap

The Hawks came into the second half of the season ready to continue pushing for a playoff berth.  Although the Hawks struggled with their first game, they came back in a thrilling overtime win verses conference opponent Lehigh Carbon CC.  Lead by sophomore Doug Smith, with 10 rebounds, 7 assists, and 13 points, the Hawks proved to be too much for the Cougars in overtime.  

Conference opponent Bucks County came to visit the Hawks next.  Ainsley Vasquez lead the team with 17 points and provided crucial minutes in the win.  Robert Wright III and Brady DeShong had 6 rebounds a piece for the Hawks and Doug Smith added 7 rebounds and 8 assists.  NJCAA Division II Raritan Valley was the next opponent for the Hawks.  A late charge by the Lions lead them past the Hawks for the win.  The starters, Smith, Wright, Sean Smith Jr, DeShong, and Onterio Edmonds, had significant minutes for the Hawks.  Wright lead the way with 13 points, 6 assists, and 8 rebounds.  Smith had 9 points and 6 assists, Edmonds had 10 points, Smith Jr and DeShong both had 11 points.  Jared Sorensen added 6 points to the Hawks total.  

The Hawks next three contests were against conference opponents.  The Hawks traveled to take on #10 ranked Community College of Philadelphia and took the win 75-71.  It was a significant win for the Hawks with Sean Smith Jr, Robert Wright III and Jared Sorensen leading the way.  Smith Jr had 22 points, 5 assists, and 5 rebounds. Wright III had 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists.  Sorensen was 100% from the field with 13 points.  The Hawks then beat Luzerne County 108-69.  Wright III had 23 rebounds in the win.  Sean Smith Jr had 17 points and Onterio Edmonds had 14.  Garfield Antoine had 9 rebounds and 12 points. Next, the team traveled to Northampton, who was second in the conference.  The Hawks lost by two points, 77-79.  Onterio Edmonds had 21 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals.  

Heading into February, the Hawks wanted to finish the season strong on their way to a 3rd consecutive showing in the Region XIX playoffs.  The Hawks beat Montgomery County, 103-77, lead by Brady DeShong with 23 points and 8 rebounds.  Then the Hawks lost in the final seconds to Thaddeus Stevens, 99-102.  The Hawks were lead by DeShong, 24 points and 6 rebounds, and Wright III, 22 points and 7 assists.  The Hawks then played Williamson Trade and won, 96-84.  Edmonds, Wright III, Smtih Jr, and DeShong were all in double figures in the win. Wright III also had 13 rebounds and 9 assists.  The last regular season game was against conference opponent Delaware County.  The Hawks could not overcome the first half deficit and lost, 89-96.  Smith Jr had 27 points, Edmonds had 17 points and 5 rebounds, and Wright III had 14 rebounds, 6 assists, and 3 steals.  

At the end of the regular season, the Hawks were 14-11 overall and 11-5 in the EPAC conference.  The Hawks made the Region XIX playoffs for the 3rd consecutive year.
